Gilberto Salazar Escoboza, along with his companies Videxport S.A. de C.V. and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés S.A. de C.V., is extremely committed to community, family values and the quality of life of all.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Gilberto Salazar Escoboza continues to expand his philanthropic efforts, sponsoring scholarships to encourage and assist youth and adults in sustaining and attaining higher education. Gilberto invites and encourages all who have the means to reach out in their community and around the world to help people young and old achieve their goals.

BBVA Bancomer Foundation


BBVA Bancomer has been assisting underprivileged junior high and high school students in Mexico for 25 years, focusing on those in high migration areas. Some of the programs they offer include social development programs; scholarships; cultural development programs, which sponsor artistic projects; training and entrepreneurship programs, which are aimed at encouraging the creation of small businesses; and the Strategic Alliance Program, which operates both nationally and internationally to collaborate and network with similar institutions worldwide.

  • Gilberto Salazar Escoboza is an active member of the Bancomer Board of Directors and supports its programs to assist underprivileged students. So far in 2015, Gilberto has sponsored 10 scholarships of $1,000 (MXN) per month in the Por los que se quedan (For Those Who Stay) program.

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU)

HACU represents approximately 450 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America and Spain. HACU is the only national association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), which enroll more than 50 percent of all Hispanics in postsecondary education.

  • Gilberto Salazar Escoboza, Videxport and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés have each sponsored a $1,000 (USD) scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year, for a total of $3,000 (USD) in college scholarship funds.

Scholarships for Workers and Families

March 2015 Scholarships

In addition to sponsoring scholarships to outside organizations, Gilberto Salazar Escoboza awards scholarships to the children of workers at his companies. Throughout the year, a number of children who receive good grades receive a monthly cash stipend of $1,000 (MXN) to encourage continued education. In March 2015, 15 hard-working students received a scholarship.
