The workers at Videxport S.A. de C.V. and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés S.A. de C.V. are a driving force, often living and working on the property and dedicating much of their time to bettering the business. As the general director, Gilberto Salazar Escoboza takes on the responsibility of caring for these workers—and their families—as though they were his own.
And the employees and their families at Videxport and Empacadora Fruticola are indeed family to Gilberto. He ensures that all workers are healthy and happy through the implementation of a number of programs and activities—all available to employees and their families.
Scholarships for Workers and Families
Videxport awards annual scholarships to students with parents employed at the company. Throughout the school year, a select number of children who receive good grades receive a monthly cash stipend of $1,000 (pesos) to encourage them to complete their education and help support the family. Recently, the student who received the best grade point average received a laptop. In 2014, Videxport awarded 10 scholarships to hard working students. On March 11, 2015, Videxport awarded 15 scholarships to well-deserving students!
Workers’ Awards for Excellence
Gilberto believes in rewarding his employees for their hard work and dedication. In December 2014, Gilberto awarded 40 gifts to workers with high performance in packaging watermelon. Six televisions, six cell phones, and 28 various household appliances were given to his employees in recognition for their exceptional work and outstanding performance during Videxport’s winter watermelon packaging season.
Kids’ Christmas Party
The Christmas party, called Posadas in Mexico, is held annually at Videxport for the children of the company workers. It is a tradition started by Gilberto’s father several years ago that is now carried out by the Social Responsibility Department. Videxport supplies a clown, music and games for the children, as well as food, drink and cake for them and the parents. In addition, each child receives a toy and candy boot as a Christmas gift. Last year the company hosted 230 people at its Christmas celebration!
Winter Blanket Donation
Videxport and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés sponsors an annual winter blanket donation for his works and their families. In 2014 more than 1,500 winter blankets to families in Hermosillo Coast, Guaymas-Empalme Sonora and Carbó Sonora. Each worker and family member living in the fields received a blanket. These blankets were furnished by Videxport, Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés and through several generous donations from their principal suppliers.
