Gilberto Salazar Escoboza and His Companies
Gilberto Salazar Escoboza is the general director of Videxport S.A. de C.V. and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés S.A. de C.V., two companies that were founded and cultivated by his father almost 40 years earlier. As a devoted family man and an advocate for healthy food and sustainable agriculture, Gilberto knows the impact that these two flourishing companies, which are in the produce growing and distribution industries, can have on both the earth as a whole and on the people that consume the fruits and vegetables they grow. Since Gilberto took over the family business at the age of 23, he has committed himself to giving his employees a safe place to work while formulating a healthier, eco-friendlier way of operating his businesses.
Through Videxport and Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés, Gilberto and his dedicated team of employees grow, package, and distribute watermelons, grapes, pecans, and bell peppers—all of which are sent around the world, including the United States, Canada, England and even as far as Asia. Produce grown by Videxport and distributed via Empacadora Frutícola Santa Inés are certified by a variety of organizations, including Fair Trade, Primus GFS, GlobalG.A.P., C-TPAT, and more. But Gilberto goes beyond the health of his produce; he seeks to better the life and health of all his employees through the newly-implemented Social Responsibility program, which includes improved health facilities and living quarters, free financial and educational programs, and more.
